What to Do Around 1222 Harrison

A short guide to eating, drinking, and hanging out on our block before or after your appointment at The Bus Stop Barbershop.

We’re located inside the L Seven complex at 1222 Harrison, in a quieter part of SoMa that doesn’t get much attention. The area is mostly residential and calm during the day, but there are a few great spots just a short walk away. It’s not a tourist area—just a real part of SoMa with some hidden gems.

If you’re coming in for a haircut and want to make the most of your visit, or if you’re already nearby and looking for a good spot, here’s our shortlist.

Coffee and Books at Café Suspiro

Café Suspiro is one of those places that's a little more than a coffee shop. They serve coffee, but you’ll also find records and books on the walls, and the atmosphere makes you want to stay longer than you expected. It’s a great place to arrive early, grab a coffee, and browse before heading to your appointment.

Ramen at Ushi Taro

Ushi Taro is right across the street from L Seven. The ramen here is genuinely good, not just for tourists. We recommend the spicy beef ramen, but everything on the menu is solid. Lunch is the best time for a quick meal. Dinner goes later and can get crowded, especially during peak hours.

Drinks at Driftwood

Driftwood is a bar that feels like it’s been around forever, even if it hasn’t. They have great cocktails, comfortable seating, and a relaxed vibe. It’s a good spot after a Wednesday or Thursday evening appointment, or before heading out for the night. If you’re looking for a place to have a couple of drinks and a real conversation, this is the spot.

How to Time It with Your Appointment

Here are some easy options:

  • Coffee at Café Suspiro before your appointment, then walk over

  • Ramen at Ushi Taro for lunch, then walk across the street for a 1 PM cut

  • Drinks at Driftwood after a Wednesday or Thursday evening cut (we're open until 8 PM those days)

  • Combine a Friday appointment with a bowl at Ushi Taro before and cocktails at Driftwood after

You can usually get an appointment at The Bus Stop Barbershop within the same week. If you want a specific barber or a weekend time, try to book earlier in the week.

Getting Here

Our block is easy to find. We’re in Building 4 of the L Seven complex, right along the inner edge that you can reach from the public sidewalks on Harrison Street. Look for the barber’s pole and sidewalk signs. Metered parking is available on Harrison and nearby streets during business hours, and you can often find free parking around the complex. The 27 Bryant bus stops just a block away.
