Moscone Center welcomes hundreds of thousands of visitors each year for big conferences like Dreamforce, RSA, JPMorgan Healthcare, GDC, and Apple's WWDC. If you’re here and just noticed your hair needs a trim, there are options just a short ride away.
This guide covers your best options, tips for booking, and how to fit an appointment into your busy conference schedule.

How Close Are We, Really?
To be upfront, The Bus Stop Barbershop is about a 25-minute walk from Moscone Center, or around 8 to 12 minutes by rideshare, Waymo, Muni, scooter, or bike. It’s not the closest shop, but the short trip is worth it for a real barbershop experience instead of a quick chain cut.
If you’re choosing between a chain near Moscone and a locally owned shop just a 10-minute rideshare away, that’s the tradeoff. This guide gives you the facts about both.
Our Shop: The Bus Stop Barbershop
We’re a locally owned barbershop at 1222 Harrison Street, inside the L Seven residential complex, Building 4. Our three barbers, Timothy, JP, and Tatiana, each take clients independently through our booking system.
We offer haircuts, fades, beard trims, hot towel shaves, and combo appointments. Prices start at $50 for a haircut, $40 for a fade, and $25 for a beard trim. Combo services range from $60 to $80. See our full menu with pricing.
Getting Here from Moscone
The 25-minute walk is real, but there are faster options.
Waymo: San Francisco is one of the cities where Waymo's autonomous rides operate. The short trip from Moscone to Harrison Street is a good first ride if you haven't tried one yet. Wait times are usually under 10 minutes during the day, and pricing is comparable to or less than Uber and Lyft's during off-peak hours.
Uber or Lyft: A short ride is $8 to $15, depending on the surge. About 8 to 12 minutes with typical SoMa traffic. During conference peak hours, surge can push it higher.
Bird, Lime, or Spin scooter: If you're comfortable on an electric scooter, this is one of the fastest options. About 10 minutes from Moscone via the bike lanes on Howard or Folsom. Scooters are usually easy to find in the Moscone area.
Bike: If you're already a bike commuter or a Bay Wheels (formerly Ford GoBike) member, you can grab a bike from a Moscone-area station and return it near our shop. About 10 minutes riding time.
Muni: The 27 Bryant bus stops within a block of us and picks up around Moscone. Runs frequently. About 15 to 20 minutes door to door including wait time.
Walking: If you like walking and have the time, it’s a straightforward 25-minute walk down Howard, Folsom, or Harrison. It’s not the most scenic route since SoMa is a working neighborhood, not a tourist area, but it’s flat and easy.
Driving: Only if you already have a rental car or have driven in from elsewhere in the Bay Area. Street parking is metered until 6 PM on weekdays and is paid by license plate via an app on your phone. The 8th and 9th Street garages are the closest paid options for covered parking, and there are limited free parking spots in L Seven (pay attention to the signage).
How Far in Advance to Book
Conference weeks are busier than usual. If you want a haircut during a major event at Moscone, try to book at least three days in advance. For the biggest weeks like Dreamforce, RSA, or JP Morgan Healthcare, booking a week ahead is best.
Best times to book during a conference:
Early morning, before sessions begin, is a good time. From 10 AM Tuesday through Saturday, most attendees are in keynotes or workshops, so shops are less busy.
Mid-afternoon on a slow conference day. If your schedule frees up between 2 and 4 PM, that's often the quietest window.
Wednesday or Thursday evenings are also good options. We’re open until 8 PM on those days, which is helpful if you have client dinners and want to look sharp.
Worst times to book:
Friday afternoon of a conference. Everyone is trying to squeeze in a cut before flying out. Book earlier.
Saturday afternoons fill up fast with local clients. If you’re in town for business over the weekend, try to book Saturday morning or move your appointment to Sunday if you can.
If your conference days are packed and you can't schedule ahead, walk-ins are welcome when there's an open chair. Weekday mornings are your best walk-in bet.
How Long to Budget
For a Signature Haircut with rideshare or Waymo: 30 minutes in the chair, plus 20 to 25 minutes round trip, plus 10 minutes buffer. Total: about an hour from your session ending to being back on the conference floor.
For a Haircut + Beard Trim: 60 minutes in the chair, plus round trip. Total: about 90 minutes.
For a Hot Towel Shave alone: 30 to 45 minutes in the chair, plus round trip.
Avoid booking your haircut right before or after a session. Give yourself at least 15 minutes of extra time on each side. Getting around the conference can take longer than expected because of crowds, elevators, and navigating the exhibit hall.
Booking Options
You can usually get an appointment the same week, especially on weekday mornings or midday. Book online through Squire, choose your barber, service, and time, and confirm your spot right from your phone.

Between Sessions or After Hours?
If your only free window is after the exhibit hall closes at 5 PM, we've got you. Wednesday and Thursday, we're open until 8 PM. Those are the best evening days for a fresh cut before a client dinner or evening event.
For same-day bookings, check availability in Squire around noon. That’s when cancellations usually become available.
A Few Practical Notes
We have plugs. If you need to charge a phone or laptop during your cut, just ask.
Tipping is appreciated but not required. In San Francisco barbershops, the standard tip is 15% to 20%.
We prefer cash, but it’s not required. You can also pay by card through Squire, either in the chair or when booking online.
Other Options Closer to Moscone
We’re not the closest shop to the convention center. If being nearby matters more than the shop experience, here are a few options within a 10-minute walk of Moscone:
Peoples Barber Shop (multiple SoMa locations): This chain offers quality cuts and has several locations near Moscone.
Fellow Barber SoMa: This shop has a polished vibe, higher-end pricing, and more of a hair salon feel.
Great Clips (multiple locations): Quick and affordable. If you only have 20 minutes and just need a trim, they’re an option.
